Co-ordinating the New York artist’s major installation in Hyde Park and his sell out illustrated presentation An evening with Tony Oursler at the MCA.

2001~2005    VISUAL ARTS CO-ORDINATOR, SYDNEY FESTIVAL
Working closely with Director Brett Sheehy to research, source, negotiate and manage all aspects of the Festival’s annual visual arts program.

Responsibilities

  • Researching and sourcing potential visual arts commissions, installations, exhibitions and projects
  • Managing visual arts projects selected for production and presentation
  • Liaising with national and international artist, curators and gallery directors to enable the presentation of the visual arts program
  • Management of the visual arts program budget
  • Management of all ancillary staff engaged for the delivery of the annual visual arts program
  • Being the public face of the visual arts program and interfacing with galleries and the press on visual arts matters
  • Writing and managing all marketing, promotional, curatorial and printed matter for the visual arts program

Responsibilities

  • All aspects of researching, designing and implementing innovative exhibition and non-exhibition related programs for students and adults including:

Major Lectures exploring contemporary issues in Architecture and Design eg      the Annual Lloyd Rees Memorial Lecture presented by Glenn Murcutt (1999), Harry Seidler (1998); Film criticism and commentary eg the AFI Writers on Film series presented by Peter Bart (2000), B. Ruby Rich (1999); Literature eg Australian and International writers including Robert Hughes, Peter Carey and Arundhati Roy.
Performance, Dance, Music, Slide and Video presentations by artists as diverse as Marina Abramovic, poet and musician Patty Smith, Fourplay and Aboriginal singer/songwriter Archie Roach.
Debates, forums and panel discussion eg The Eat! Debate (That Cooking is better than Eating), The Warhol Debate (That 15 Minutes is Long Enough) and     a wide range of speakers selected to amplify exhibitions such as Hitchcock: Cinema, Art and Suspense and the Biennale of Sydney.
Literature programs in the galleries The Word on Sunday readings showcased     the best in new writing by emerging and established writers and poets.
Gallery Talks by artists, critics and cultural commentators
Practical and theoretical workshops for children of all ages
Study Days for students and teachers

  • Liaison with all Museum departments particularly Curatorial, Marketing, Sponsorship, Publicity and Graphic departments
  • Negotiating with partner institutions and funding agencies
  • Developing briefs and budgets
  • Hiring and managing staff and technical equipment
  • Writing copy for and overseeing design and delivery of education publications
  • Representing the MCA in the public delivery of programs
